HEALTHY AS A STUDENT
1. Eat on a schedule!
Be sure to have 3 meals
a day and 1-2 snacks in between. And yes, breakfast is important! Never skip
it, as it gives you the energy boost to stay active throughout the days. Research
also shows that people who eat regular meals and snacks make healthier choices,
including eating more fruits and vegetables.
2. Colour your plate!
Fill your diet with as
much colourful fruit and vegetables as possible (the brighter the better!) to
make sure your body is getting the nutrients it needs. Colour your plate with
different types of vegetables (carrots, spinach and tomatoes) alongside your
usual dose of carbohydrate and protein for a healthier you!
3. Drink, drink, drink!
Life as a student can
get pretty busy, but it is important to stay hydrated throughout the day!
However, limit calories from beverages such a coffee, tea and carbonated
drinks. Sugar and high fructose corn syrup are not doing your body any good.
Replace them with plain water and you will feel great!
Exercise. Exercise is
very important to stay healthy and fit. Remember, even small steps count. Go
for a jog in the evenings, or join a sports club at school. Exercise is good
not only for the body, but also for the mind. When you feel fresh, you’re more
likely to stay focused in class too! J
5. Relax
Life as a student can get pretty stressful
with all that is expected of us. Classes, activities and the need to perform in
examinations. So it is important to find time to relax, de-stress and get back
our much needed energy! Find time to do something that you enjoy and make sure
you get enough sleep every night too!
